Exodus 14 Crossing the Red Sea

You will remember from last time that God was leading the people of Israel by a cloud in the day time and a pillar of fire by night.

God also spoke to Moses and gave him specific directions.

The Lord led the people of Israel, and He turned them down into this valley, towards a mountain range.

On the other side of them was another mountain range.

So, they went right down into the valley towards the Red Sea, a mountain range on the right, a mountain range on their left, the Red Sea in front of them.

Pharaoh and his army pursue Israel verses 1-14

1Then the LORD said to Moses,

2“Tell the people of Israel to turn back and encamp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, in front of Baal-zephon; you shall encamp facing it, by the sea.

2“จงสั่งชนชาติอิสราเอลให้ย้อนกลับไปยังค่ายหน้า ตำบลปีหะหิโรทระหว่างมิกดลและทะเลหน้าตำบล บาอัลเซโฟน   แล้วตั้งค่ายตรงนั้นใกล้ทะเล

3For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, ‘They are wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.’

3ฟาโรห์จะกล่าวถึงชนชาติอิสราเอลว่า   'พวกเขาติดอยู่บนบก   ถิ่นทุรกันดารนั้นกั้นเขาไว้แล้ว'

4And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD.” And they did so.

4เราจะบันดาลให้ใจฟาโรห์แข็งกระด้างไป   ฟาโรห์จะไล่ตามมา   แล้วเราจะได้

รับเกียรติยศ   เพราะฟาโรห์และพลโยธา   แล้วชาวอียิปต์จะรู้ว่า เราคือพระเจ้า”   เขาทั้งหลายก็กระทำตามรับสั่งนั้น  

5When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”

5เมื่อกษัตริย์อียิปต์ทราบความว่า   ประชากรเหล่านั้นหนีไปแล้ว   พระดำริของฟาโรห์และความคิด ของข้าราชการก็เปลี่ยนไปจากที่มีต่อประชากรอิสราเอล   เขาจึงว่า  “ทำไมเราจึงทำเช่นนี้   ไฉนเราจึงได้ปล่อยพวกอิสราเอลไปให้พ้นจาก การรับใช้เราเล่า”

6So he made ready his chariot and took his army with him,

6ฝ่ายฟาโรห์ก็จัดราชรถ   และนำพลโยธาไปด้วย

7and took six hundred chosen chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them.

7ท่านเอารถรบอย่างดีหกร้อยคัน   กับรถรบทั้งหมดในอียิปต์   มีทหารประจำอยู่ทุกคัน

8And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the people of Israel while the people of Israel were going out defiantly.

8พระเจ้าทรงให้พระทัยของฟาโรห์กษัตริย์แห่งอียิปต์แข็ง กระด้างไป   ท่านจึงไล่ตามชนชาติอิสราเอลซึ่งเดินทางไปโดยมี พระหัตถ์ของพระเจ้าคุ้มครอง

9The Egyptians pursued them, all Pharaoh's horses and chariots and his horsemen and his army, and overtook them encamped at the sea, by Pi-hahiroth, in front of Baal-zephon.

9ชาวอียิปต์ไล่ตามไปมีทั้งม้าและรถรบของฟาโรห์และ ทหารม้า   กองทัพของท่านมาทันชนชาติอิสราเอลที่ตั้งค่ายอยู่ริมทะเล   ใกล้ตำบลปีหะหิโรท   หน้าตำบลบาอัลเซโฟน  

10When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the LORD.

10เมื่อฟาโรห์เข้ามาใกล้   ชนชาติอิสราเอลก็เงยหน้าขึ้นดู   เมื่อเห็นชาวอียิปต์ยกติดตามมา   ก็มีความกลัวยิ่งนัก   คนอิสราเอลจึงร้องทูลพระเจ้า

11They said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt?

11เขาบอกโมเสสว่า “หลุมฝังศพในอียิปต์ไม่มีหรือ   ท่านจึงพาเราออกมาให้ตายในถิ่นทุรกันดาร   ทำไมหนอท่านจึงพาเราออกมาจากอียิปต์

12Is not this what we said to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”

12พวกเราบอกท่านในอียิปต์แล้วมิใช่หรือว่า   ปล่อยพวกเราแต่ลำพัง   ให้พวกเรารับใช้ชาวอียิปต์เถิด   เพราะการรับใช้ชาวอียิปต์นั้น   ก็ยังดีกว่าที่จะมาตายในถิ่นทุรกันดาร”  

13And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.

13โมเสสจึงเตือนประชากรว่า “อย่ากลัวเลย   มั่นคงไว้  คอยดูความรอดที่จะมาจากพระเจ้า   ซึ่งพระองค์จะประทานให้แก่ท่านทั้งหลายในวันนี้ด้วยคนอียิปต์   ซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายเห็นในวันนี้  แต่นี้ไปจะไม่ได้เห็นอีกเลย

14The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

14พระเจ้าจะทรงรบแทนท่านทั้งหลาย   ท่านทั้งหลายจงสงบอยู่เถิด”  

Pharaoh expects the Israelites to move up the coastal route and through the land of the Philistines.

ฟาโรห์ทรงคาดว่าชาวอิสราเอลจะเคลื่อนย้ายไปเส้นทางชายฝั่งทะเลและผ่านแผ่นดินของพวกฟิลิสติน

When they head toward the wilderness, he thinks they are lost and do not know where they are going.

เมื่อพวกเขามุ่งหน้าไปทางถิ่นทุรกันดาร   พระองค์ทรงคิดว่าพวกเขาจะหลงทางไปและไม่ทราบว่าพวกเขาจะไปที่ไหน

God says that when he thinks they are trapped, he will pursue them.

It is obvious that Pharaoh let the Israelites go reluctantly.

God is not through with the Egyptians yet.

They were heading toward the Red Sea and so it seemed Israel would be trapped, unable to cross the water and nowhere else to go.

Many of the people of Israel think it is hopeless when the Pharaoh and his 600 chariots come after them.

This is the beginning of difficulties for Moses with the people he is leading.

He's going to have a rough time with these people.

Often it is difficult to be a leader and to encourage people to have faith in the Lord.

They said, "Did you bring us all the way out into the wilderness to die because there was not room to bury us in the land of Egypt?"

The Israelites are sure they are going to be slaughtered out in the wilderness.

The Israelites, when they were in the land of Egypt, cried out for deliverance.

เมื่อชาวอิสราเอลอยู่ในแผ่นดินอียิปต์  ร้องคร่ำครวญอยากได้รับการปลดปล่อย

God provided the opportunity for them to leave; but the minute they were in danger, they wanted to return to Egypt.

พระเจ้าทรงประทานโอกาสให้พวกเขาได้มีอิสระ; แต่นาทีที่พวกเขาตกอยู่ในอันตราย  พวกเขาต้องการที่จะกลับไปยังอียิปต์

Now notice what God is going to do for His people.

They are helpless and hopeless without the aid of God.

If they are to be saved, God will have to do it.

God's Victory Over Egypt verses 13-31

Unless God moves on their behalf, they are doomed.

And you and I could never be redeemed unless God did it.

The Lord will work in behalf of His people; all they have to do is accept and receive His salvation.

พระเจ้าจะทรงทำกิจเพื่อเห็นแก่ประชากรของพระองค์ ทั้งหมดที่พวกเขาต้องทำคือการยอมรับและได้รับความรอดจากพระองค์

They are to stand still and God will do the work.

Remember, you cannot lift a little finger to work out your salvation.

All you have to do is accept what God has done for you.

15The LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward.

15พระเจ้าตรัสกับโมเสสว่า “เหตุไฉนเจ้าจึงมาร้องทุกข์ต่อเรา   จงสั่งชนชาติอิสราเอลให้เดินต่อไปข้างหน้าเถิด

16Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground.

16ฝ่ายเจ้าจงยกไม้เท้าของเจ้า   แล้วยื่นมือของเจ้าออกไปเหนือทะเล   ทำให้ทะเลนั้นแยกออก   เพื่อคนอิสราเอลจะได้เดินบนดินแห้งกลางทะเลแล้ว ข้ามไปได้

17And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen.

17ส่วนเราก็จะบันดาลให้ใจชาวอียิปต์แข็งกระด้างไล่ตามมา   แล้วเราจะได้รับเกียรติเพราะฟาโรห์   พลโยธา   รถรบ   และพลม้าทั้งหมดของเขา

18And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”

18เมื่อเราได้รับเกียรติเพราะฟาโรห์   รถรบ   และพลม้าของเขาแล้ว   ชาวอียิปต์ก็จะรู้ว่าเรานี่แหละคือพระเจ้า”  

19Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them,

19ฝ่ายทูตของพระเจ้าซึ่งนำพลโยธานั้นกลับไปอยู่ข้างหลัง   และเสาเมฆซึ่งอยู่ข้างหน้า   ก็กลับมาตั้งอยู่ข้างหลังเขา

20coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night without one coming near the other all night.

20คือมาอยู่ระหว่างพลโยธาอียิปต์และพลโยธาอิสราเอล   มีเมฆและความมืดกั้น   เวลากลางคืนก็ผ่านไปโดยทั้งสองฝ่ายมิได้เข้าใกล้กันตลอดคืน  

21Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

21โมเสสยื่นมือของท่านออกไปเหนือทะเล   และพระเจ้าก็ทรงบันดาลให้ลมทิศตะวันออกพัดโหมไล่น้ำทะเลตลอดคืน   ทำให้ทะเลกลายเป็นดินแห้ง   น้ำแยกออกจากกัน

22And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

22ชนชาติอิสราเอลก็พากันเดินบนดินแห้งกลาง ทะเล   ส่วนน้ำนั้นตั้งเป็นเหมือนกำแพงสำหรับเขา   ทั้งทางขวาและทางซ้าย  

23The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

23คนอียิปต์ก็ไล่ตามเขาเข้าไปกลางทะเล   ทั้งกองม้าและราชรถ   และพลม้าทั้งปวงของฟาโรห์

24And in the morning watch the LORD in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic,

24เวลาปัจฉิมยามพระเจ้า ทอดพระเนตรจากเสาเพลิงและเสาเมฆทรงเห็นพลโยธาอียิปต์   ก็ทรงบันดาลให้กองทัพอียิปต์เกิดโกลาหล

25clogging their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians.”

25พระองค์ทรงกระทำให้ล้อรถฝืดจนแล่นไปแทบไม่ไหว   คนอียิปต์จึงพูดกันว่า   “ให้เราหนีไปจากคนอิสราเอลเถิด   เพราะพระเจ้าทรงต่อสู้กับคนอียิปต์แทนเขา”  

26Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.”

26ขณะนั้นพระเจ้าตรัสกับโมเสสว่า   “จงยื่นมือออกไปเหนือทะเล   เพื่อให้น้ำทะเลไหลกลับคืนมาท่วมคนอียิปต์   ทั้งรถรบและพลม้าของเขา”

27So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the LORD threw*n27.4 the Egyptians into the midst of the sea.

27โมเสสจึงยื่นมือออกไปเหนือทะเล   ครั้นรุ่งเช้า   ทะเลก็กลับไหลดังเก่า   คนอียิปต์พากันหนีกระแสน้ำ   แต่พระเจ้าทรงสลัดคนอียิปต์ลงกลางทะเล

28The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained.

28น้ำก็ท่วมพลรถและพลม้า   คือพลโยธาทั้งหมดของฟาโรห์ซึ่งไล่ตามเขาเข้าไปในทะเล   ไม่เหลือสักคนเดียว

29But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

29ฝ่ายชนชาติอิสราเอลเดินไปตามดินแห้งกลางท้องทะเล   น้ำตั้งขึ้นเหมือนกำแพงสำหรับเขาทั้งทางขวาและทางซ้าย  

30Thus the LORD saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.

30ดังนี้ในวันนั้นพระเจ้าทรงโปรด ช่วยให้คนอิสราเอลรอดจากเงื้อมมือคนอียิปต์   อิสราเอลเห็นศพคนอียิปต์อยู่ที่ชายทะเล  

31Israel saw the great power that the LORD used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the LORD, and they believed in the LORD and in his servant Moses.

31อิสราเอลเห็นกิจการใหญ่   ซึ่งพระเจ้าได้ทรงกระทำแก่คนอียิปต์   ประชากรก็เกรงกลัวพระเจ้า   เขาทั้งหลายเชื่อถือพระเจ้าและ เชื่อโมเสสผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ด้วย

Now the cloud had been leading them, and now the Lord takes the cloud and puts it behind them, and lets it settle down so that the Egyptians find themselves in a heavy fog; can't see a thing.

ตอนนี้เสาเมฆได้นำหน้าพวกเขาไป   และตอนนี้พระเจ้าทรงจัดการเลื่อนเสาเมฆไปอยู่เบื้องหลังพวกเขา   และตั้งไว้เพื่อว่าชาวอียิปต์พบว่าตัวเองอยู่ท่าม

Now the light is still out in front of the children of Israel so they can see what's going on.

The pillar of fire is still there. The children of Israel are walking still in the light of the pillar of fire, but the cloud is settled on the Egyptians; they don't know what's going on in there in the camp of Israel.

But what is going on is that God brought a strong east wind, and it divided the Red Sea.

He heaped it up on both sides, and by the east wind, dried the bottom of the sea so that the children of Israel walked through the midst of the Red sea on dry ground.

ทรงให้น้ำทะเลตั้งขึ้นมาทั้งสองด้าน   และโดยลมตะวันออก พัดให้พื้นล่างของทะเลแห้ง  เพื่อว่าลูกหลานอิสราเอลสามารถเดินทางผ่านกลางทะเลแดงบนพื้นดินแห้งได้

Israel will cross safely to the other side of the Red Sea, and Pharaoh and his army will perish in the waters of that sea, and the Egyptians left in the land will know that the God of the Israelites is the Lord.

 อิสราเอลจะข้ามได้อย่างปลอดภัยไปอีกฝั่งหนึ่งของทะเลแดง  ฟาโรห์และกองทัพของพระองค์จะพินาศในกระแสน้ำทะเลนั้น   และชาวอียิปต์ที่เหลืออยู่บนแผ่นดินจะรู้ว่า   พระเจ้าของอิสราเอลคือองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

In verse 19 the "angel of God" is mentioned.

ในข้อ 19  กล่าวถึง"ทูตของพระเจ้า"

I believe the Angel of God was Jesus Himself. 

ผมเชื่อว่าทูตของพระเจ้าคือองค์พระเยซูเอง

It was God Himself who stood between the Egyptians and the Israelites.

พระเจ้าเองแหละที่ทรงประทับอยู่ระหว่างชาวอียิปต์และชาวอิสราเอล

When a strong east wind came, it caused the sea to go back.

เมื่อลมตะวันออกที่แรงกล้าพัดมา   มันก็พัดให้น้ำทะเลนั้นไหลกลับไปตามเดิม

A natural wind could never have made a wall of water on both sides.

ลมธรรมชาติคงไม่อาจทำให้น้ำทะเลตั้งขึ้นเป็นกำแพงทั้งสองด้านได้

As God works out His plan to deliver His people, once again we see that He worked through the pillar of fire and the cloud, which I believe represent the Holy Spirit.

ตามที่พระเจ้าทรงทำให้แผนการของพระองค์สำเร็จที่ได้ทรงช่วยปลดปล่อยประชากรของพระองค์   อีกครั้งเราจะเห็นว่าทรงกระทำโดยใช้เสาไฟและเสาเมฆ    ซึ่งผมเชื่อว่าเป็นตัวแทนของพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์

They were led, as the child of God should be led today, by the Spirit of God.

The last two verses state the purpose for God's deliverance of Israel.

At the beginning of their wilderness march they saw the power of God when He delivered them by blood out of Egypt.

Now at the Red Sea He demonstrates His power again by taking them safely across the sea and by destroying the Egyptians pursuing them.

God delivers His children by His power.

God can make a way where there is no way.
