The Christian Prison Ministry in Thailand (CPMT) was
started under the Baptist Church Foundation by IMB missionaries over
30 years ago. In recent years, the CPMT is increasingly gaining the
admiration and support of the Thai government because of the
ministry's effectiveness in positively changing the prisoners'
behaviors. As chief prison officials give cooperation and support to
CPMT, the ministry is able to sow seeds among the inmates in
additional prisons through Bible studies, Christian morals training,
language learning, and various other ways. At last count, the CPMT
had programs in over 60 prisons and juvenile detention centers, in
addition to a halfway-house ministry.
