Outreach to children is exploding
About two months ago, Ohn and I were eating breakfast in Khok Kloy with the
radio station owner. The owner of the restaurant asked if we could teach
English at the Khok Kloy Community Center and we agreed, it started about a
month ago with 15 students. He suggested we visit the two Khok Kloy
schools to see if there would be more students interested in coming. I
teach English for an hour and then Ohn and I teach some Bible songs and Bible
lesson, and give them some homework including a coloring sheet with a Bible
verse. After speaking to the directors of the two schools, I figured our
attendance would increase to 20. Oh me, of little faith, the following
Saturday we had 76 students and 10 parents. They anticipate growing to 100
this Saturday and are arranging a larger classroom plus I have prepared
everything on PowerPoint now. Then a few days ago Cindy and Ohn contacted
the Thanoon Elementary school which is the village just to the north of us, and
they anticipate having 69 students tomorrow at their club in the afternoon.
We will take children from here to go that club and discontinue the one we've
had at the church. Please pray for these two clubs.

Our guests
last month

Angeline and Barbara came to visit on a Sunday. Angeline is originally
from Indonesia. I shared here testio ony the the
Learning English Together Radio program
Members of the Gideons Phuket camp shared at our church last Sunday.
The children especially enjoyed Khun Kampon, the president, telling the
Bible story of Gideon. Pray that we will able to place more Bibles in the
hospitals, hotels, and schools here. Two Thai ladies visited for
the first time and hopefully will contine to come, please pray for their
salvation.

Where Angeliine and Barbara were visiting we went to the new Sarasin Bridge.
We also had a couple visit from California on Wednesday night, she was born here
in Thailand and they are on their way to Bangkok to share the gospel with her
grandma, we gave her a Thai Jesus video. Plus we have two Burmese ladies
come for the first time who live near the church. One speaks some Thai and
a little bit of English we gave them Burmese Bibles and Burmese Jesus videos,
hopefully they will come regularly.

replaced, some putty and sanding and next comes painting and the payment of the
balance of 15,000 baht which is about $500, if you would like to help. We also have
the need to buy a new computer, as my existing laptop has become almost
unusable, the need is $700.

International Commission
Jeff
Chetwood, the regional coordinator for IC projects in Asia will be with us October
16 -19, and will conduct the preoutreach training for the pastors at Pak Ping
Church in Phang Nga October 18. Pray for that event and pray that Magnolia Avenue Baptist church
and other churches across the USA will recruit a large number of
participants for this outreach to Thailand March 21 - April 2. The ideal
team consists of a preacher and 2-3 lay
people, we can assign to each of the eight churches. In previous projects, men, women and young people from all walks of
life, ages 13-85, have been used effectively. The two basic areas of
project work are visitation and evangelistic services. Every participant spends
two or three hours each morning and each afternoon in scheduled visitations.
They witness in homes, parks, factories, prisons, schools, and wherever the host
church desires. Many other evangelistic opportunities come outside the
scheduled visitation. In addition to providing interpreters to bridge any
language barriers, International Commission asks each person to write their
personal testimony. This is translated and copies are printed in the host
language. Each witnessing brochure provides that participant's personal
testimony, the plan of salvation, steps for a new believer, and a decision card
that is in the language of those to whom we take the gospel. Each church
holds nightly evangelistic services. Interpreters make it possible for team
members to testify and for the visiting evangelist to preach. The local pastor
participates in the invitation and counseling in order to bond the respondents
to the local church. The work is hard, the language is difficult, and the food
and customs are strange. A project is not a vacation, but a time to work at the
task of spreading the Gospel. IC is working towards Nationals doing their
own projects. Here is a short report from Cambodia. If you are
interested in participating complete this
application form. A brochure with more information will be available soon
after Jeff's visit.
Cambodia May 13-20: Friday noon 28 pastors representing 11
provinces of Cambodia came together at the Baptist Union in Phnom Penh to
participate in the project to Prey Veng province. Saturday was a travel day.
On Sunday 6 teams were sent out and each team led two worship services. Team
members shared testimonies and preached. God gave the harvest of 85 unbelievers
placing their faith in Christ. Monday through Friday, the teams joined with
local pastors visiting in the homes of unbelievers for the purpose of sharing
the “Good News” of Jesus Christ. The homes visited were listed on a church
member’s Operation Andrew Card. To be on a church member’s OA list meant the
member had been praying for that family for several months. During this project
275 people came to know the Lord. Pastor Nhem Nivath asked the participants
after the project, “Are you happy? Do you want to continue these projects?”
The participants responded, “We are happy, and we want to do evangelization till
Jesus comes!” Nivath’s observation is that the people are on fire for the
Gospel because of the N2N projects. Each N2N project also has a focus on
planting new churches. The N2N projects are a part of the Baptist Union plan
to plant 1621 new churches by 2015. Report from Nhem Nivath

Praise and Prayer Requests
Praise the Lord we have a two new Kid's Clubs.
Our chief prayer request this month is the quenching of the vegetarian festival.
This an annual holiday in Phuket going back for many years in Chinese Buddhism.
The event is nine days long, and starts with participants all wearing white,
they eat only vegetables, drink water, they abstain from meat, sex, and alcohol
for the nine days. But the goal is to have a spirit indwell them so that
they then can pierce their bodies with knives, swords, spears, and walk on hot
coals. Sadly this draws alot of tourists so it is promoted by the Tourism
Authority of Thailand. Cindy and I praying that it will rain each day, so
many people will stay home and events will be cancelled or have very low
participation. Today is day 4 and we've had 4 days of rain, praise the
Lord. However, we need also to pray for less rain in Central and Northern
Thailand where there has been extensive flooding.
Pray the Bangkok Phuket Hospital will allow me to make regular
room to room visits weekly.
Pray for me and my two translators Ohn and Sana, and for those who hear as I preach and teach at church and on the radio.
Pray for Sana's health she has head and ear aches also pray for her safety as
she traverses the island to be with us every Sunday. Last Sunday she went
to visit her mother in another province.
Pray for Bibles to supply other Se-Ed bookstores in Thailand and that they will
be receptive to the distribution.
Pray for Cindy as she teaches in the two schools in Thai Muang, Phang Nga and
for the new Kid's Club at the Thanon school Saturday afternoons.
Pray that we can recruiit volunteers or perhaps even paid staff to teach English
in one of the Khok Kloy schools and the Thanon School. They both need
English teachers.
Pray for healing for Taa Thon long term member of our church - age 90 homebound
for now.
Pray for more Global Media
Outreach online missionaries for
Thailand, speakers of both
English and Thai, see
www.missionaryfromhome.com Also pray for the 20 members of my Global
Media community I oversee that God will use them mightily in their follow up
counseling.
Thanks for your partnership with us, we greatly appreciate your support through
prayer and financial giving. God bless you, Dana and Cindy
