The Hearts of the children are being changed

There was no school most of the month of October. So there was some decine in attendance in our two Kid's Clubs.  Then one Saturday most of the students in the morning Club were taken on a field trip, but then we expected the numbers to be back up this past Saturday but I only had 18 students, three of whom we brought in from Thachatchai.  Phi Wat our host explained, "some of the parents don't want their children to attend because the hearts of the children are being changed."  Please pray that the hearts of the parents will be changed too.

Jeff Chetwood, executive vice president and regional coordinator for IC projects in Asia and his wife Jodie were with us October 16 -19, and  conducted the preoutreach training for the pastors at Pak Ping Church in Phang Nga October 18.  Pastor Achara pictured below, translated for Jeff, Jodie, and me.

We had seven churches commit to be involved in Operation Andrew.  Here it is in seven steps:

1.  Look around: list the names of relatives, friends and neighbors who need Christ.  Write down their names.

2.  Look up:   begin to pray seriously for each of them.  You should also let them know that you are praying for them.

3.  Look out: find ways to build stronger relationships with these people.  Ask if there are any specific needs you can pray for.  Show personal interest in each person’s needs and problems.

4.  Look friendly: invite him or her to your home, alone or with their family.  Invite them to share a meal with you.

 5.  Look at the list: invite each person to the “service of ten” in your church.  Let him know that you would like for him to be your honored guest, with a personalized invitation card.

6.  Look forward to an opportunity: to have another Christian including a foreign visitor to visit in his home at his convenience and make an appointment.

7.  Look after: if he still hasn’t accepted Jesus, keep on praying and developing the friendship.  Look for opportunities to serve, visit, and call him.  Allow him to see Jesus in you that you care for him and love him and are continuing to pray for him.

We had 26 in attendance at the Phang Nga pastor's meeting at the Cup of Joy coffee shop north of Khok Kloy.   I spent about 25 minutes going through Operation Andrew with them, distributed Jeff's testimony with the ten questions, showed them an evangecube, and gave them church information sheets.  I think there were about eight more churches represented.  One completed the information sheet bringing the number of participating churches for the project to eight.  There might be another one or two.  The Baptist church that joined, has a Philippino pastor who said this, "I love this project, it involves the local church in prayer, evangelism and follow up, the church owns it.  It is not just foreigners coming for a week of evangelism and then going back to their country."   The lady church leader who translated for me said, "we can't commit to doing this because we have volunteers coming already during that last week of March, but we will definitely do Operation Andrew in our church."   This morning I taught our church on Operation Andrew and asked for a commitment to pray for a list of ten.  We had the children do it also.  We will post the names on the wall of our church next week.   We had a small group but they were excited about it.  I spoke on John chapter 4 after that the Woman at the Well.  Who was so excited about sharing her testimony she went off without her water pot.

Pray for Operation Andrew happening now in the eight churches and  pray that Magnolia Avenue Baptist church and other churches across the USA will recruit a large number  of participants for this outreach to Thailand March 21 - April 2.  We have made hotel reservations for 30 counting Jeff and Jodi and Cindy and me, so we need 26 volunteers.  The hotel is the Khao Lak Orchid Beach Resort.    The ideal team consists of a preacher and 2-3 lay people, we can assign to each of the eight churches.  In previous projects, men, women and young people from all walks of life, ages 13-85, have been used effectively.   The two basic areas of project work are visitation and evangelistic services.  Every participant spends two or three hours each morning and each afternoon in scheduled visitations.  They witness in homes,  schools, and wherever the host church desires.  Many other evangelistic opportunities come outside the scheduled visitation.        In addition to providing interpreters to bridge any language barriers, International Commission asks each person to write their personal testimony.  This is translated and copies are printed in the host language.  Each volunteer will have 200 copies in Thai and 50 in Burmese.  Each witnessing brochure provides that participant's personal testimony, the plan of salvation, steps for a new believer, and a decision card that is in the language of those to whom we take the gospel.      Each church holds some other evangelistic services.  Interpreters make it possible for team members to testify and for the visiting evangelist to preach.  The local pastor participates in the invitation and counseling in order to bond the respondents to the local church.  If you are interested in participating complete this application form. A brochure with more information will be available soon.
