54. Border Ministry - Kengtung (Myanmar)

A three hour car ride from the most northern point in Thailand (Mae Sai) will take you into Myanmar and to a little town called Kengtung (pronounced Chen-toong). Here your team can be involved with local churches, Bible schools, orphanages, hill tribes and English schools. Smaller teams are usually the best and direct work inside the churches is typically restricted to Sundays. However, there are many opportunities for personal one-on-one evangelism and establishing friendships with the Burmese people. The local people love to sit, talk and drink tea while practicing their English with foreigners! As well, the local English teacher loves to bring his students to meet foreigners, like you! Your team may also have the opportunity to help organize English Camps for high school and university students in the area. There is also a local orphanage where the children are always thrilled to have a team come visit, sing and play with them! There is also the opportunity to teach and encourage the local believers as well as in some of the surrounding hill-tribes. On Sunday, your team will have the opportunity to join with local Shan hill tribe people in worshipping God! One other way your team can make a huge impact to this area of the world is through prayer walks in and around Kengtung, praying for Gods Word to take hold in the lives of each and every person!
