Baan Chan
"Baan Chan" (My Home)
is a children’s home in Khon Kaen province committed to giving
abandoned, healthy Thai children, aged 4 and up a home which will really
be like their own home, caring for them with love and kindness until
adulthood.
Baan Chan (My Home) began in July 2005 and is the newest program in the
Project L.I.F.E. Foundation family. Our goal is to accept up to 20
children who will be cared for by our 5 full time staff. In the near
future we hope to add additional volunteers to our team as well. In the
coming year, we will strive to build a firm foundation in the areas of
administration and child development.
The Story of “Baan Chan”
In
Northeastern Thailand, just as in all of Thailand, there are many
children who have been abandoned. Kokos Foundation, situated 14
kilometers from Khon Kaen, ended up being unable to care for 13 children
aged 2 – 16 years of aged, who were abandoned there.
When the Project L.I.F.E. Foundation became aware of this situation,
they were invited to come in to take over the program over the course of
9 months.
And so, began “Baan Chan”.
Our heart is to take in more abandoned children in the future. Our
desire is that each of our children will grow up feeling they are a part
of a real family, living in a home that is truly “their” home. We will
care for them spiritually, emotionally, and physically just as a real
family would so that they are able to become responsible, caring
individuals who will be an example and benefit to Thai society.
“Baan Chan” will accept Thai children, especially those born in the
“Isaan” (Northeast Thailand), teaching and training them through God’s
Word. “My Home” is located in Baan Non Somboon, Amphur Nong Kham, not
far from the city of Khon Kaen.
