45. Slum Ministries – Pattaya
Pattaya Slum Ministries is a ministry committed to bringing the love of
Christ to the poorest of the poor living in Pattaya slums. Pattaya is a
resort destination located 95 miles southeast of Bangkok. Originally a
small fishing village, but when the Vietnam War came, Pattaya became the
official “R&R” center for American armed forces. Shops, services, bars
grew to meet the demand. The tourism boom followed and today Pattaya is
a thriving city with over 700 bars. There are numerous slum communities
in Pattaya and we work in 7 of them on a regular basis. We provide
short-term relief through periodic distribution of basic necessities
such as water, rice, and/or noodles. Our goal is to reach out to
children & adults bringing hope & healing through sharing the love of
Christ and meeting tangible needs. Your teams can partake in a wide
variety of ministries, including prayer walks, visiting the sick, doing
health clinics, participating in community development projects, and
organizing children’s activities for our kids’ clubs!
Vision - To reach out to slum communities with the love
of Jesus, knowing that real transformation occurs when people experience
the living God in their lives. To encourage slum children to reach their
God-given potential and to help them know that they are valued and
loved.
