37. “House of Union” Children's
Home and Boarding House – Chiang Rai
The hill tribes of northern Thailand are some of the poorest and
most uneducated people in the country. They have few skills and often no
Thai citizenship, which gives hardly any opportunity to improve their
living standards. House of Union provides currently provides care for 14
children and orphans from hill tribe villages. These children often have
no family members to care for them or come from families that are too
poor to provide for their daily needs. At House of Union, their goal is
to provide them with basic needs and an opportunity to get a better
education by attending school in town, while also sharing the Gospel
together and learning about Jesus. The cultural exchange resulting from
your teams visit will bless the kids and enrich your lives as well!
Opportunities include working with the kindergarten teacher to teach
English and make teaching materials; helping with housework, like
cooking, cleaning, and laundry; cultivating the vegetable garden; and
improving the appearance of the house and classroom...all with the goal
of helping the children feel comfortable and secure in their home. There
is also the opportunity to join the children in church activities,
including doing ministry with the hill tribe church in the mountain
villages where many of the children come from. There are other
opportunities as well such as helping to repair and paint the church, or
even build a fence! The opportunities are endless to come and show love
to kids who so desperately need it!
Vision – To receive more workers who have a heart for
evangelism. To assist students who can't afford education (4-12 years
old) and to disciple them and send them back to their village where they
can share the love of Jesus with all.
