26. “Home of the Open Heart” Children's Home – Chiang Rai

In the northern town of Chiang Rai, YWAM runs an orphanage and hospice for AIDS mothers and their children. Baan Nam Jai or Home of the Open Heart loves to have teams come and help, especially teams who want to serve in ‘practical ways’. There are many such ways to get involved such as painting, brick-laying, gardening & other ’handy-man’ jobs that are projects that can be done by your team! There are also opportunities, for your team, to interact with the kids that are cared for by Home of the Open Heart. Vision - To give HIV+ babies a loving home until their HIV status is determined. We also provide small group homes for babies who cannot be cared for by relatives and to assist families affected by HIV/AIDs, through education, orphan care within the home and within the community. We also engage in community visits leading to income-generation projects, and mother/child respite care.
