21. Pakkred Home for the Mentally Disabled - Bangkok

Project OGAT gives abandoned or orphaned boys and young adults with intellectual and physical disabilities the opportunity to develop their daily living skills and to enjoy life more fully. Teams have the opportunity to meet some of the 630 children and adults at the government run Pakkred Home. You can do such activities as playing games one-on-one, or doing learning or art activities with them. During OGAT classes, your team can help the some of the children or young adults learn to count, recognize and count money, paint, or do a new art activity. You may also be able to prepare group activities such as singing in the wards, doing an art project to decorate the rooms or presenting a drama on stage. Some of the children and young adults enjoy outings to department stores, a local tourist attraction or church. You can help to supervise and observe their behavior. You may also choose to donate towards food, art supplies or therapeutic equipment but the greatest joy comes from those who come willing to give of themselves and show God's love to those who so desperately need it!
